HP meets billion pound recycling goal, sets target for 2 billion pounds by 2010.
HP FACT: One out of six refilled brands does not live up to HP print cartridge standards by failing prematurely or being dead on arrival. Original HP cartridges are 35 times more reliable than refilled brands.
HP FACT: Many remanufacturers claim that they are more environmentally friendly because they ‘recycle’ HP OEM cartridges. Often times the remanufacturer only reuses and refills the original HP inkjet cartridge putting extra wear on the cartridge that was not intended by the original design. Once the cartridge breaks from continued reuse it usually ends up being discarded instead of recycled. HP actually recycles the plastic from their print cartridges.
HP FACT: HP’s redesigned ink and toner cartridge packaging will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 37 million pounds in 2007. As an example, our new LaserJet print cartridge packaging uses 45% less material by weight and the exterior corrugated cardboard carton is made from 30-85% post-consumer recycled content.
