The next phase of Guernsey’s environmental awareness program goes beyond offering green products to a comprehensive program targeting the materials used in the packaging and delivery processes. Specifically, Guernsey will reclaim, reuse and recycle materials, e.g. boxes/bags, used to deliver customer orders. Early indicators reveal enthusiastic customer response to the incentive of participating in a process that really makes a difference. The byproduct will be significant as Guernsey effects better utilization of more than a million pieces of packaging materials annually. Additionally, Guernsey is implementing a system that dramatically reduces the use of shrink wrap and conventional pallets in its line-haul and back-haul operations between the firm’s distribution center and cross-dock facilities. Shipping product in enclosed, standardized, reusable pallet structures is facilitating the accomplishment of this objective. The Next Level initiative adds to Guernsey’s extensive inventory of green products and ongoing efforts to achieve further energy efficiency in the use of its fleet, facilities and equipment.
